Data policy

Sources and data policy

SmartFintool uses official and authoritative sources for current regulatory information. Calculator defaults for expected market returns are planning assumptions, not sourced return guarantees.

Primary source types

  • Income Tax Department and Union Budget documents for tax slabs, rebates, cess and surcharge.
  • Reserve Bank of India for banking and interest-rate context.
  • SEBI and AMFI for mutual-fund investor education and terminology.
  • India Post and government small-savings notifications for PPF and post-office scheme information.

Official source links

How sources are used

Where a page depends on current rules, it links to relevant sources and shows a source-check date. Defaults such as 7% FD, 7.1% PPF or 10–12% mutual-fund returns are user-editable assumptions and should not be read as live rates or predictions.

Limitations

Regulations and rates change. Bank FD rates differ by institution. Tax provisions can be amended by finance acts and notifications. Verify important decisions with the relevant institution, official portal or a qualified professional.
